Laser cutting
Clean, accurate profiles in steel, stainless and aluminium, cut on a 6kW fibre laser. Supplied cut-only or moved straight to folding and fabrication in the same workshop.
The machine
| Laser | 6kW fibre |
|---|---|
| Bed size | 3000 x 1500 mm |
| Tolerance | ±0.1 mm |
| Edge quality | Clean cut edges with a minimal heat affected zone |
| Nesting | Software nesting to keep material waste, and your price, down |
Materials and thickness
| Material | Maximum thickness |
|---|---|
| Mild steel | 20 mm |
| Stainless steel | 16 mm |
| Aluminium | 16 mm (12 mm for the cleanest edge) |
| Galvanised steel | Cut regularly, ask for your gauge |
Thin gauge through to heavy plate. If your material is not listed, ask; if we cannot cut it well, we will say so.
Typical parts
Brackets, plates, panels, enclosures, frames, gussets, flanges and fabricated components that need precise profiles and repeatable dimensions. One-off prototypes, repeat production runs, and everything between.
Files we accept
DXF and STEP preferred. DWG and PDF are fine too. If your drawing is in another format, or on the back of a coaster, send what you have and our CAD team will sort it out.
Preparing your file
- Use closed geometry for every cut profile.
- Put bend lines on their own layer and note whether they should be etched or cut.
- Convert text to outlines or curves.
- From 3D models, include a flattened DXF or a drawing for each sheet metal part.
- Export at 1:1 scale.
Not sure? Send it anyway. Checking a file takes us minutes and costs you nothing.
Get your parts cut
Send DXF, STEP, DWG or PDF files with material, thickness and quantity and we will come back with a price.
